1.     Energy Access Researcher – TANIMBAR

 

In partnership with a large-scale oil and gas project, Mercy Corps Indonesia (MCI) is expanding its community development efforts in Maluku Province by starting programs in Tanimbar. Tanimbar Islands (Maluku Tenggara Barat) are a group of 65 remote, idyllic islands in the south east of Maluku Province, Indonesia. Tanimbar experiences a variety of interrelated challenges, including poverty, limited economic opportunity, lack of sanitation, poor health outcomes and limited basic infrastructure. MCI is currently implementing a solar power market development program in Tanimbar and is looking to explore other energy access initiatves. In line with this vision, MCI is working with donors to implement an energy access researcher in Tanimbar.

Energy Access Researcher responsible to collect data from Tanimbar stakeholders, from government officials to businesses to religious leaders to other community members. Data will be collected using the following methods: Survey data collection using mobile platform, key informant interviews, focus group discussions and transect walks and direct observation. Also responsible in data clean up and analysis, as needed and document information and data collected in a systematic manner.

This position will be as temporary staff.

 

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of community mobilization, qualitative and/or quantitative assessment experience, or other similar field work experience;
• Excellent communications skills, verbal and written, ARE A MUST. Good English skills also A PLUS;
• Record of success engaging with community-level stakeholders in a culturally and contextually-appropriate manner;
• Candidates from Maluku, Maluku Tenggara Barat or with previous experience in these areas are A PLUS;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint software.
