VACANCY: RESEARCH ASSISTANT on Information System for Sustainable Land Development (INSTANT), TO BE BASED IN BOGOR, INDONESIA

The World Agroforestry Centre (also known as the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry or ICRAF) is an independent research institution which generates science-based knowledge about the complex role trees play in agricultural landscapes and rural livelihoods. As part of the Centre’s work to bring tree-based solutions to bear on poverty and environmental problems, researchers – working in close collaboration with partners – are developing new technologies, tools and policy recommendations for increased food security and ecosystem health.
 
The Centre’s headquarters are located in Nairobi, Kenya, and research is conducted in 34 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We are supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and receive funding from over 50 different donors.

About the position
To support the development of Information System for Sustainable Land Development (INSTANT) at district and province level in Papua and South Sumatra. This position will work closely with RSGIS Specialist, Database Assistant, and IT officer, to build, test and document the process of INSTANT development, under close collaboration with relevant scientists, local stakeholders, government officers, and other potential users.

Requirements
· Bachelor Degree preferably on agriculture, forestry, or geography
· At least 3 (three) years of relevant experience
· Experience in working with not-for-profit organization, government institutions and business enterprise
· Research on land use planning, spatial analyses (remote sensing and GIS), database management system, and other relevant researches
 
Personal Competencies
Good experience in managing various type of data (i.e. spatial and non-spatial data) and metadata in some fields of research and development; Preferably had knowledge on spatial database management
Good experience in conducting field data collection, including FGD and interview with local stakeholders (i.e. government and non-government)
Good experience on spatial analysis, remote sensing, and GIS
Computer literate on Windows based-systems including several RS-GIS software, MS Excel, MS Word
Good understanding of time management
Strong character, multitasking person and able to work under pressure
Having interest in receiving feedback from others
